"Enhancement of Memory and Reduction of Amyloid Plaques in Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model by Cyclic Glycine-Proline"

  • Anand Singh Singh Chouhan

Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain. Animal models, such as APP/PS1 mice, are critical for understanding AD mechanisms and testing treatments. These mice exhibit amyloid plaques and memory deficits, closely mirroring human AD. Cyclic glycine-proline (cGP), a stable cyclic dipeptide derived from the tripeptide glycine-proline-glutamate, has shown potential therapeutic effects. Our study investigates cGP's impact on spatial memory and amyloid plaque accumulation in APP/PS1 mice. We found that cGP significantly improves spatial memory and reduces amyloid plaque load in these mice, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent for Alzheimer’s disease. These findings highlight the therapeutic promise of cGP in mitigating AD pathology and cognitive decline.
